The Oregon Kite Company, located in the coastal community of Brookings Oregon was first formed in the fall of 1997, with the goal of promoting kite flying and providing high quality handcrafted sport kites at an affordable price. During the early years, we handcrafted sport kites for competitors and novice kite fliers alike, providing them a money back guarantee on price and performance (see the link "Guarantee" below for full details).
Flying on the gentlest of breezes our models included the Sea Hawk, Gull, Tern and Sea Breeze. In 2005 we closed our web site, cut back on kite design, and spent more time flying kites. Even though the shop was closed, the dream of providing high quality sport kites at a reasonable price lived on. In 2006 I began exploring the possibility of having my favorite kite design, the Gull 8.5, manufactured for me.
This quest led to GKPI (Gomberg Kite Productions International) and Dave Gomberg. During the past year, Dave worked diligently with his team of dedicated suppliers to bring the Gull 8.5 to market. Dave's ability to assure consistent quality in both materials and workmanship, as well as his outstanding reputation throughout the kiting community has made the production of this kite a dream come true.
The result of this effort is that both Gomberg Kite Productions International and the Oregon Kite Company LLC, are proud to offer the "Gull 8.5" at a price point that remains true to our goal of providing an excellent kite at an excellent price.

Available in three color schemes, the kite stands 52" tall, measures 103" wing tip to tip, has over 12 square feet of sail area and weighs a mere 10.5 ounces. The Gull 8.5 is capable of withstanding 15 mph winds, will fly in as little as 3mph for a novice and in zero wind by an advanced flier.
With it's gracefully ability to make smooth turns and fly a straight line, the Gull has been sought after by experienced northwest fliers for both precision and ballet events. Well suited for novice and advanced fliers, this large sport kite will make a big impact on anyone's flying. Whether you like to fly one, two, or three sport kites at a time, in single or multiple kite routines, or paint the sky with transition tails attached to the keel, this kite will put a smile on your face. We also would like to encourage sport kite fliers everywhere to be safe, to try flying multiple kite routines, to learn the STACK kite figures, to join the American Kitefliers Association and to have a good time. So please explore this web site, check out the links and feel free to send us feedback.

Gary MacEachern
